DIY: Morrocan Lanterns

Lanterns are a great detail to incorporate in any of your wedding functions, but they can also be quite expensive when you need more than a few of them. And you can't really make an actual morrocan lantern with out specializing in metals and glass and having a serious talent for putting it all together. But, I did find a DIY lantern project that is pretty creative on Design Sponge. They might not have the intricate metal design or cuts, but they definitely do have a spark.

Materials
  • old glass jars (spaghetti jars, jam jars or any plain glass jar will work)
  • gold dimensional puff paint
  • glass paint (Delta or Pebeo Vitrea glass paint are great options)
  • paintbrush
  • wire (optional, for hanging lanterns)
Instructions
1. Remove labels and any glue residue from the glass jars and allow them to dry completely.
2. Apply the gold dimensional paint in various patterns. You can use the applicator tip to create small stud-like dots, draw various decorative patterns or push around the paint to create solid areas of gold. Let dry.

3. Pour a small amount of glass paint inside the jar and use your paintbrush to drag the paint up the sides of the jar, coating all of the jar’s interior. Let dry.

4. Your lanterns are now ready to enjoy indoors or out! Simply fill them with candles or add loops of fine-gauge wire to the tops for easy hanging.

Purple Passion Inspiration Board

Happy Monday!

How spectacular is the Purple wedding inspiration board below! I actually created it using Style Me Pretty's Inspiration board generator, which by the way I am obsessed with. I think weddings enhanced in lavender or rich purples are absolutely sultry and divine. There is something very regal about the color purple.

Purple's are usually incorporated in Autumn and Winter weddings. But, adding a bright summer color such as lime green, hot pink, or yellow in addition to purple could make it a perfect decision for your wedding color palette in the summer or spring!

The Wedding Filmer

There are so many amazing and talented videographers/cinematographers throughout the states, Canada, and the UK but I hadn't found any that I truly liked from India, well that is until I came across some truly beautiful video's by The Wedding Filmer. Vishal Punjabi who heads the Wedding Filmer, was previously a filmmaker for Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and has also produced documentaries for international artists such as Akon and musician duo Vishal Shekhar. But the times of Bollywood are behind him and he is now taking the wedding scene by storm with his creativity and his eye for details.

Take a look at one of his recent video's below. The brides words to the groom definitely touches my heart.

Sweet and Saucy

Melody Brandon pastry chef and owner of Sweet and Saucy should be patted on the back quite heavily. While looking through her pastry shop blog, I saw cakes made for celebrities, cakes made out of the ever so delicious girl scout cookies (Thin Mints, Samoa’s anybody?), and themed cakes which match any event you can think of for birthdays, holidays and corporations such as Coca Cola. While glancing through her images of her oh so beautiful cakes, I also noticed the creative and unique cake stands and the more I saw the different stands- I thought to myself HOW MANY cake stands can one person own, and where do you even begin to find such unique ones? Then as I browsed around a bit, I realized so many other people must have been thinking the same thing because Melody opened up a new cake stand haven online where she has put together a shop full of cake stands, cupcake liners, domes, bowls and anything else that is pastry related. Check it out at http://www.sweetandsaucysupply.com./

Also, take a look at some of Melody's gorgeous cakes.

Thanks to Calligraphy by Jennifer for posting some of these amazing pictures and introducing me to Sweet and Saucy!

Please Help - For Japan With Love

It's crazy what's going on with Japan right now. Watching the Tsunami images and videos make my stomach ill, I can't even imagine what the residents of Japan are going through.

This Friday March 18th (tomorrow) Sapphires and Saffron, along with many bloggers across the world will take part in Blogger's Day of Silence organized by Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged. Which means no postings tomorrow.

So, I'm sure your wondering how you can help? Go to For Japan with Love and make a donation. However Big or small- the choice is yours. Every Penny counts. The donation proceeds will all go to Shelterbox, which was one of the FIRST organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand Saturday after the Earthquake.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

In Honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I would dedicate a post to a green theme'd wedding. Whether you really are planning a wedding on St. Patricks day next year or simply love the emerald shade- there's a little something for everybody.

Put a new spin on your wedding with beautiful greenery, subtle hints of green in your cake (look at the beautiful ombre cake!!), a touch of green in your dress, or bridesmaids desses. And ofcourse don't forget the guinness cocktails! Hope you all are having a 'lucky' day!

Satya Paul at LFW Summer/Resort 2011

“My inspirations come from life, from the whole of this beautiful world…from thorough historical research, from elements of movement and dynamism… from existence itself.”

-Satya Paul

I have always been a fan of Satya Paul's simplicity and sophistication. His creativity gets better and better with each year that passes by but most of all I was glad to see him experiment with more textures. Can you see your self wearing the red/pink/yellow ombre lengha Sarah Jane Dias sports in the very last picture for your reception?

Thanks to LFW for providing these photos!

Cinal and Taju's Fabulous Reception Decor

WOW WOW & WOW is all I can say when I saw Cinal and Taju's reception photo's a few months ago! My sister's friend was telling me about this wedding and I was so amazed with it that I thought I would share some photo's that were captured of this reception from the amazing Andrena Photography. She really does deserve a post of her own. Every time she posts something new to her blog, I feel like a 7 year old kid on Christmas morning. I also posted the other amazing vendors who helped put this wedding together at the bottom of this post.

Everything from the flowers to the lighting, to the color palette, to the crystals, to the lounge area, down to the seating arrangements are just breathtakingly beautiful!

Hope you Enjoy!
Aren't these Cakes divine!! They look like candles on glass cylinders and too perfect to eat!

Cinderella's Fairytale Reception

Just had to share this girlie pink reception decor and cake! It makes me think of what Cinderella's reception would have looked like! I found the images on Details Details an event planning company who also has a fantastic blog. I love all the details of this wedding from the frilly chair coverings, the intricate design on the cake, the mini cake each individual guest received, and the rosette table cover for the cake table. Lets be honest I also just love anything PINK!

Merci

TGIF! Just wanted to quickly share this super cute Thank You card by Paper Daydream for Natasha and Farshid. They had a fabulously decorated wedding and reception last year, not surprisingly though since she’s one of the originators of Sapna Magazine!

After checking out Paper Daydream, I'm going to have to post more later. So much creativity!!
